Camellia Hartman is a Manhattan-born, Brooklyn-based violinist, singer, and event producer working across a wide range of genres and musical stylings. Whether it be through recording, performing, arranging, or coordinating bespoke ensembles, Camellia is passionate about all sides of the creative process, collaboration, and the magic of bringing an artistic vision to life.

Over the past 10+ years as a freelance musician in NYC, Camellia has performed and recorded with hundreds of artists in the greater New York area as well as joined artists on regional and national tours such as Ghost Funk Orchestra (vocals, 2023), Skullcrusher (violin/vocals, 2022), Pom Pom Squad (violin/vocals, 2022) and Katie Martucci (violin/vocals, 2019).

In August 2023, Camellia appeared in her first in-studio Tiny Desk session with Speedy Ortiz at NPR’s DC headquarters, after having contributed to two remote Tiny Desk sessions during COVID (one with Pom Pom Squad and one with Sad13). Festival highlights include performing with Sofia Carson at Global Citizen Fest in Central Park (September 2023), Newport Folk Festival with Skullcrusher (July 2022), and the Felice County Fair with Conor Oberst and the Felice Brothers (October 2022). Past media credits include a KEXP session with Pom Pom Squad (2022), The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with Metro Boomin ft. Gunna (2019), a live studio session with and Willow Avalon (Atlantic Records) at Electric Lady Studios, and a Paste Studio Session with her own project, Camellia Hartman & the Soulful Saints (2018). Besides her avid contributions to the indie and pop music scene, Camellia has performed and recorded with orchestras, theater and opera companies, and large ensemble big bands such as the 8-Bit Big Band, which earned her a Grammy recognition certificate for recording on the Grammy-winning arrangement of "Meta Knight's Revenge" by the 8-Bit Big Band ft. Button Masher.

Camellia produces string ensembles for live performances, events, and studio sessions under the ensemble moniker Hartstrings Music. Since 2019, she has produced and led a holiday cabaret extravaganza called Jolly Follies at various venues around NYC. Her passion for event planning and production has blossomed into an additional career branch, working as a freelance planner, coordinator, and producer on weddings, music festivals, and shows.

Ongoing projects include Kill The Whale, the Moby Dick-inspired rock opera by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Daniel Emond, performing with Tony Vaz on his latest album cycle, and singing with Ghost Funk Orchestra, including on a European tour in March 2025. Other upcoming show details can be found on the calendar page.

Camellia lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and is always eager to collaborate with other passionate creators across any and all mediums.
