Camellia Hartman and Billy Aukstik started recording together on a cold night late in 2013. After months on the road touring with Charles Bradley, Billy had the idea to start his own analog record label and enlisted Camellia to sing the first single “At Least I Got My Baby.” What started out as a passion project between two friends and long-time collaborators grew into an ongoing contemporary homage to the glory days of 1960s Northern Soul. With the help of lyricist Steve Garvin and legendary Daptone Records studio and touring musicians, Billy and Camellia went on to record a 45” single “Breathin’ Hard (Over You)” / “Return the Favor.” Accompanying the latter’s digital release, Camellia Hartman & The Soulful Saints recorded an in-studio session with Paste Magazine/Daytrotter in April 2018.

Camellia’s latest single with Dala Records, “The Moment Your Eyes Met Mine,” was released in June 2020. Illustriously arranged for horns and strings, this mature release was received warmly by radio DJs and fans worldwide.

In 2021, “Breathin’ Hard (Over You)” was featured in the award-winning Sci-Fi short film, “A Week With Rebecca.

“Breathin’ Hard (Over You)” / “Return the Favor” has had international radio play and is available for purchase through the Dala Records online shop.
